Which Vaccinations Do You Need?

Every traveller is different. The vaccines you need depend on where you're going, how long you're travelling, what activities you have planned, and your existing vaccination history. Our pharmacist will review everything prior to your appointment and advise exactly which vaccines you need — no guesswork, no unnecessary jabs.

HEPATITIS A

Recommended for most destinations outside Northern Europe, North America and Australia.

Transmitted through contaminated food and water.

Single dose provides protection for up to 1 year. Booster extends protection to 25+ years.

HEPATITIS B

Recommended for longer stays or travellers likely to need medical treatment abroad.

Three dose course over 6 months — or accelerated schedule available.

Also recommended for healthcare workers travelling abroad.

CHOLERA

Recommended for certain destinations with poor sanitation or during outbreaks.

Oral vaccine — two doses taken one to six weeks apart.

Also provides some protection against traveller's diarrhoea.

TYPHOID

Recommended for South Asia, Africa and South America.

Transmitted through contaminated food and water.

Available as injection or oral capsules.

Recommended at least 2 weeks before travel.

RABIES

Recommended for travellers spending extended time outdoors, working with animals, or travelling to remote areas.

Three dose course before travel.

Essential for backpackers, wildlife volunteers and adventure travellers.

MENINGITIS ACWY

Recommended for Sub-Saharan Africa and Saudi Arabia — required for Hajj and Umrah.

Single injection.

Protects against four strains of meningococcal disease.

MALARIA PROPHYLAXIS

There is no vaccine for malaria. Prevention relies on antimalarial tablets combined with bite avoidance.

We prescribe the right antimalarial for your specific destination and travel plans:

• Atovaquone/Proguanil (Malarone) — daily, start one to two days before travel

• Doxycycline — daily, start two days before travel

£15 deposit at booking.

Balance confirmed by pharmacist after reviewing your travel plans.Refund given if not needed.

JAPANESE ENCEPHALITIS

Recommended for rural areas of Southeast Asia — particularly for longer stays or travellers spending time outdoors.

Two dose course given at least 1 week apart.
